I am licensed by the State of Connecticut as a Professional Counselor. I hold a master’s degree in Counseling from Post University. I have enjoyed assisting individuals in the area of counseling and mentorship for over 10 years and have gained great insight into the importance of this helping relationship. Many people are suffering with mental illness, addiction, self-esteem, depression, anxiety and much more. Counseling provides an opportunity to work through these situations and to begin to enjoy a greater sense of well-being.
I take a person-centered approach to each client, developing an understanding of the client’s view of themselves, others and the world around them. This helps to gain an understanding of the problem, and helps to develop strategies to address thoughts, emotions and behaviors that are interfering in the individual’s daily life. I truly enjoy working with people, and I believe the connection I make with clients fosters an environment of trust, understanding and collaboration.
Currently, I am an Associate Professor of Psychology at Post University, and my previous work was in residential, outpatient, and community services, working with adults and couples presenting with trauma, substance use, depression, anxiety, and most Axis I mental health disorders. I have extensive training in cultural competency and with significant expertise working with Veterans and individuals identifying with the LGBTQ+ community. I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and mindfulness to assist clients in gaining insight into their problems and make lasting change.
